Turkey’s Citizenship Program Just Got Faster: Same-Day Processing Guide

Türkiye’s Citizenship by Investment program
Share this

Türkiye has launched a major upgrade to its Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program by introducing a same-day biometrics process. This new fast-track system allows eligible investors in Istanbul to complete both their residence permit approval and citizenship application submission within a single day.

At Citizenship Network, we break down what this change means and how it improves the investor experience.

What Was the Previous Process?

Until recently, the application process involved multiple steps spread over several days:

  • Applicants submitted biometric data (fingerprints) at a designated population office in Istanbul

  • Waited 5–10 business days for residence permit approval

  • Returned again to submit their citizenship application

For many investors, this meant either staying in Türkiye for up to two weeks or making two separate international trips.

How the New Fast-Track System Works

According to official updates, the new system significantly streamlines the process.

1. Pre-Submission

  • Applicants send required documents via email in advance

  • Receive a priority appointment within 1–2 days

2. Appointment Day

  • Skip public queues

  • Provide biometrics in a dedicated fast-track section

  • Receive same-day residence permit approval, assuming the file is complete

3. Citizenship Application

  • Once the residence permit is approved

  • The citizenship application can be submitted the same day or the next morning

As highlighted by Citizenship Network, this marks one of the fastest onboarding processes currently available in global CBI programs.

Service Fees

The cost for the expedited biometrics service is:

  • TRY 44,000 (+ VAT) for the main applicant

  • TRY 22,000 (+ VAT) per family member

What Has Not Changed

It’s important to note that this update only affects processing speed. Core program requirements remain unchanged:

  • Minimum investment thresholds

  • Holding periods

  • Eligibility criteria

Why This Matters for Investors

Since lowering its investment threshold in 2018, Türkiye has granted citizenship to over 13,000 investors and their families. With increasing competition among global CBI programs, efficiency has become a key differentiator.

According to Citizenship Network, this move signals that Türkiye is:

  • Enhancing investor experience

  • Reducing administrative friction

  • Strengthening its position in the global citizenship market

Final Thoughts

The introduction of same-day biometrics is a significant step toward making Türkiye’s Citizenship by Investment program faster and more competitive. For investors who value speed and simplicity, this update adds substantial appeal.
